This is an exciting opportunity to meet directly with your elected officials about legislation that will significantly impact the lives of animals. There will be an information booth and guidance from experienced citizen lobbyists who will provide you with tips for citizen lobbying, and an overview of pending animal legislation which will prepare you to advocate for policies that will curb and end egregious acts of cruelty. Legislators are most motivated when their constituents make time to meet with them face to face.

TBA—Iowa Federation of Humane Societies (IFHS) Humane Lobby Day and Quarterly Board Meeting—10am at the State Capitol, Des Moines, Iowa. Representatives from the IFHS, HSUS, and others will be available with information, talking points, and can help you through the process of lobbying your state legislators. Grassroots lobbying by constituents is one of the most effective ways to help advocate for better animal welfare laws in Iowa. Your efforts are crucial to achieving that goal.
